Indoor Farms

Indoor farming has many benefits with full control over a growing area. With this in mind, careful consideration needs to be put in the selection of materials used in the facility. This ranges from location, orientation of the structure, lighting, heating and cooling, HVAC, grow media, growing supplies used, and type of growing environment. Indoor farming offers many benefits such as full control over a growing season, but it can present challenges in precise control. Installation of precision equipment and automation will ensure control specific to crop needs at any stage of the growth cycle. Through timers and other methods, a grower can select any scale of automation in their indoor farming facility from small scale automation to full automation. Additional considerations to space and overall season goals should be considered in the selection of products and other materials as well. Proper planning and an incorporation of an IPM plan needs to also be in place for fast and methodical control of pathogens. Indoor farming is on it’s way to being one of the top methods of crop production moving away from the traditional outdoor growing and farming methods.
